A very small amount ( less than 0.1 %) of of dimethyl
sulfoxide (DMSO) added to Paramat. This formulation offers additional
advantages, such as faster penetration of the tissue and more homogeneous
matrix to support the specimen.

The JB-4™ is a water soluble embedding medium based on Glycol Methacrylate plastic embedding. This is the leading plastic embedding medium for high resolution light microscopy. Conventional paraffin sections have much greater shrinkage and inadequate morphology when compared to JB-4™.

Easily cuts thin sections, 0.5 - 2 microns
Cures at room temperature
Gives sharp and brilliant staining

It is a non-toxic acrylic resin with low viscosity. LR Gold is
designed primarily for embedding unfixed tissue at low
temperature. This enables enzyme histochemistry and
immunocytochemistry of many fixation sensitive enzymes to be
carried our in 1—4 micron resin sections. The resin may be cured
at –25°C using Benzil, a light sensitive initiator and a visible
light curing source. It is recommended that Polyvinylpyrrolidone
(PVP) be used to protect unfixed tissue from osmotic changes
during processing.
