    Disposable Tungsten Carbide Blades.

     


    These disposable tungsten carbide microtome blades are manufactured from a special grade of tungsten carbide steel. The rigid , ultra-sharp blades easily permit routine 1 micron sections from plastic blocks. The blades will not corrode and are microscopically examined and certified.


    The blade dimension is 80mm x13mm x 2mm with a bevel angle of 35°


    The blade support is machined from non-corrosive nickel silver with satin finish. The other internal parts are machined from  stainless steel .The overall dimensions (with blade) are 140mm x 37mm x 9mm

    Sapphire Knives

     


    Sapphire knives are used in the vibrating microtome, and possible to produce thinner sections, over the traditional razor blades. Made from synthetic single-crystal sapphire cutting edge and gives distortion free sections under 10 microns thick. Sapphire is not as hard as diamond or tungsten carbide, but many times harder than steel, thus it produces sharper edges and has increased durability. The knife can be re-sharpened.

    Triangular Tungsten Carbide Knives.


    These triangular shaped knives are made of tungsten carbide steel. Excellent for sectioning     GMA and JB-4 embedded samples, hard specimens and other difficult materials. These knives will fit all ultramicrotomes with a glass knife stage. They will section larger specimens than are possible with glass knives. The  durability of tungsten -carbide is such that changing of knives in middle of operation is rarely necessary. With a cost much lower than diamond knives, triangular tungsten knives are very economical  and will last longer than all other knives. When they become dull they can be used as a trimming tool. The edge length is 10 mm and the height is 25 mm

    Diamond Histo-Knives.

     

    Histo-Knives are available in a 45° angle and designed for use at  room temperatureThese knives were developed especially  for sectioning  plastic embedded specimens in light microscopy. Some of the comparable advantages of the Diatome Histo-Knife over glass knives are as follows:

    • Perfect sections, without chatter or compression.

    • Serial sections without changing knives.

    • Thinner sections

    • Very long durability of the cutting edge.

    • No preparation is needed as with the glass knives.

    • Simple handling and user friendly.

    The optimal thickness range for cutting with these knives is 0.2 micron - 10 micron.
